I just tried to emerge -Duva world on the server hosting this blog. Problem: The CLI version of PHP wants to downgrade from MySQL 4.1.12 (which I am using) to 4.0.24-r2. After some searching I found the reason: bug #95150 explains that this is an error in php5-sapi-r2 (which the PHP ebuild inherits). I guess it will be fixed until the end of the week. I'll just wait.
